Socialisation and Mask Project
This project was about learning how we are taught to believe the things we believe, think the things we think and do the things we do. The main article we read was the cycle of Socialisation by Bobbie Harrow. This was about the way in which, from before we are even born we have all these expectations in place to make us working citizens and humans. This cycle may lead to feelings such as anger, regret, and even depression. We learned first about the cycle and the definition of socialisation, so then we could make an exhibition to teach, and show the change we can make. This was my favorite project I have ever participated in. We created masks to show the face we put on everyday, we made a student produced exhibition that was a smashing success, and we wrote essays and short story like peices to explain and reflect socialisation.
